01.28.2014 – The annual Ajinomoto Umami Culinary Challenge started its competition as early as 7 AM divided into three categories.
They are Best Filipino Umami Dish, My Umami Coach and I and the Umami Bento Meal competition. All three challenges was completed in the morning where all of their creations where exhibited at the hall 3 of SM SMX Convention Centre. The print and media had a chance to see these talented culinary experts go to work. |
The first challenge was the Best Filipino Umami Dish, which is open for the Luzon region. The details of this contest should feature a Filipino original culinary masterpiece in bringing the best dishes.
Then it was followed by a special competition dubbed "My Umami Coach and I" challenge were they have to use the Ajinomoto Brand "Ginisa" Flavor Seasoning Mix, which makes stir-fried dishes that has to do with "healthy food for kids."
The last competition is for the Umami Bento Meal challenge where the task is to come up with a Japanese-Filipino "fusion" bento meal that boasts authentic umami taste and outstanding nutritional value.
After the main competition early in the day there are four live short seminars featuring culinary experts that have Chef Erling Rune, Chef Sau Del Rosario and Chef Rosebud Benitez. In the area you can find booths featuring the main sponsors.
On stage there is a program that has mini-games for the audience to interact as well as announcements of the finalist. Towards the end of that show brand ambassador Kathryn Bernardo performed for her fans and invited guests. Announcement of the winners will be posted online and these are the overall champions for this year.
