Shopwise Deli | Price Changes Everything

The Deli section at Shopwise is buzzing, not because of the meat or wine being sold there it’s because of the diverse takeaway food that they have produced. The rice meals and other snacks that include fresh-cut fruits and salads are not manufactured in-house. But they have kept this part of the supermarket getting quite the attention for the past months by introducing their rice meal takeaways.

In the last six months, they have continued to keep the Deli section relevant and challenging their competitors. You might think they are competing with other leading supermarkets. They are also competing with convenience stores like 7-Eleven, and surprisingly they keep those options available for consumers on a tight budget.

Hotta Rice | Pork Igado

7-Eleven is riding high and continues to be consistent with making the “Hotta Rice” brand relevant by adding new flavours to an expanded portfolio for this product. But of course, you won’t notice the changes on the menu list with the new dishes added while the older ones are getting retired subtly as they have done in the past.

It’s no secret that the “Hotta Rice” (mostly spelled “HottaRice” is aimed at targeting a lower market that can afford the product while retaining good quality with the dishes they have introduced under this product range. For years, the Hotta Rice range has been mostly basic dishes that Filipinos have based on their home cooking. This time, they have up the ante by going deep into the popular dishes from the province.

Shopwise Grab & Go | Roasted Pork Belly

Sometimes Good Feedback is a way to improve your product, and it makes the store respond in its most subtle way. Recently, Shopwise Grab & Co was featured in this segment as rarely does it get a spotlight due to the product's potential to be a “hot item” in a way nobody would notice until they see it on social media or stumbled upon it by accident while casually shopping inside Shopwise.

Shopwise Grab & Co section inside the Deli has been there casually putting out roasted chicken that you don’t need to cook. But they slowly expanded the menu with their rice meal that only featured roasted chicken, and then they had Roasted Pork Belly putting them on notice and getting some sort of a spotlight.

Big Time Meals | Chicken Pandan

The Flavours of Thailand sub-range of dishes from 7-Eleven has been a hot seller in terms of quality and presentation. The Big Time Meals where two of the dishes are under its series have been sold out, and smaller branches don’t get more than one per dish which makes it underwhelming to find out how they are not being stocked.

Previously the Chicken Satay was the most constant item that has been stocked for most at the 7-Eleven, where I get most of the stuff featured and it is a bit of a walk if you go to the other 7-Eleven stores. But sometimes you just have to be patient and the Chicken Pandan did turn up as one of the dishes from the Flavours of Thailand that became available upon delivery.

Hotta Rice | Pork Estofado

Filipinos adore their pork in so many ways that some are unheard of. In the case of the Pork Estofado, this is similar to Adobo and it is stewed pork cooked in vinegar and soy sauce with fried plantains, carrots, and sausages. This version of the Pork Estofado comes with a sliced banana and just plain stewed pork which is entirely new to the experience of having this.

7-Eleven unveiled two more Hotta Rice meals that have “pork” in them and immediately replaced the former Afritada and Chicken Curry at the same time celebrating their fortieth anniversary bringing out the best for the convenience store featuring new products across the board like this Hotta Rice!

Shopwise Grab & Go | Pork Belly

Shopwise is not just a supermarket and has proven to constantly reinvent its portfolio by having a Deli section that not only sells fresh meat or frozen goods. But also, adding snacks and rice meals that do not need to be cooked and only need to be heated in a microwave by a consumer.

They already have this since adding a Rotisserie section, but the shelf that has the fried chicken on special packaging is not skewered and is not being cooked in front of you. The display has a see-through blind that you can flip up to open to pick up the food. It’s a shelf that has a hot surface and it is not exactly a Rotisserie.
