Pancake House has collaborated with 7-Eleven previously with their Beef Tapa, and it was the only product that they have brought in as an affordable meal because it is one of their famous dish at their restaurant that can now be taken home. Surprisingly today they added two more favourites from their menu.
The Chicken Adobo Flakes is the latest offering from Pancake House that sounds like an entirely new dish from them. The other is their take on the Mac n Cheese, but this one is “lunch ready” with the familiar orange packaging that you’ll immediately find on their shelf that is quite noticeable when you sift through the freezer shelf.
Visual Lunch Presentation
Just like the Beef Tapa, this one is aimed as an option for lunch packed on a microwaveable lunch tray adorned with the familiar Pancake House colours this is certainly a consistent callback in case you want to try that other dish besides this. This is quite a surprise when you see it in person because of its size.
With price increases on all the ingredients that go to every dish out there, you would understand that some of these have reduced food portions or the quantity has been scaled down. But this one certainly made it look like the contents are packed in one place that properly can be seen once you slide out the box cover to reveal the see-through vacuum-sealed plastic cover.
It's All About the Content
This would have been a medium-sized meal, but it isn’t. The packaging is small like those pasta meals 7-Eleven has on their menu. There’s a saying “Small packages come with big things” in them and that’s what you’re hoping for because the way this was presented is surely packed with what you hope for.
The fried rice is packed indeed, and the egg with the Chicken Adobo Flakes is certainly bunched up together. Surprisingly, it includes a tiny vinegar dip as this is considered a breakfast meal, which Pancake House is also known for. It’s not underwhelming, but it looks a bit off to see a meal packed in a small tray.
Overall, the food did not disappoint it’s just the size option that they used for the product is throwing you off because of the way it is put in a very small tray. The Chicken Adobo is slightly dry but still tastes as you’d hope it would to compliment with the scrambled egg. The winner for this meal is the garlic fried rice that pulled something to keep you enjoying this unexpected meal.
- Food Quality: 4 out of 5
- Affordability: B-
- Overall: The small packaging will throw you off, but not the food that's well worth the experience.
