Chef Creations | Hamburg Steak Curry

There are many variations and versions of what a Burger Steak is from the affordable meals to the premium ones that would be good or bad not because of the price. But how it was prepared, and presented as a finished product. It’s a constant innovation that most businesses dare to recreate their take on what is a good Burger Steak.

A convenience store like 7-Eleven has mastered the localization of what their product is from a specific country. With 7-Eleven Philippines continuing its fortieth-year celebration in the country they have slowly moved away from a store that sells hot dogs and Slurpees to becoming the 7-Eleven in the Philippines that can be its version that served rice meals that the locals can have that experience.

The Chef Creations' range of meals from collaboration with local restaurants in the country has made 7-Eleven a step ahead of the convenience store competition alone which certainly made sure they are bringing high-quality meals for an affordable price. This has been evident as they build up the Chef Creations range expanding it to diverse dishes that others are just playing catch with.

The latest collaboration brings some premium rice meals that are not expensive, but just about right for your appetite. This time around, the collaboration produced three new dishes with Let’s Eat Pare, a community of foodies that promote the good of having a good meal and this is their latest collaboration with 7-Eleven that’s getting quite the attention when it dropped the first time was an immediate hit.

Fancy Budget Burger Steak

There’s no secret here, 7-Eleven is certainly capitalizing on a popular dish and reinventing it with their take on what the trends have consumers getting into. It’s either you have a Japanese or Korean dish both are wins despite some similarities in their cultures. The Hamburg Steak Curry is one amalgamation of dishes that makes it stand out and reinvents the Burger Steak.

No one saw it coming when 7-Eleven dropped three new Chef Creations dishes in collaboration with Let’s Eat Pare. Some word out that a single customer bought all the stock available the first day it became available. Well, that’s how it is here in the Philippines whenever something new becomes an immediate hype.

But the Hamburg Steak Curry is no hype, but rather a reinvention that was clever on both 7-Eleven and Let’s Eat Pare that makes this a “must-have” meal experience as something no one thought would be an immediate hit.

It’s the Curry Sauce Thing

In some ways, the patty is the center of its main dish and has a strip of cheese wrapped around it. Someone out there must be thinking of other ideas on how to consume just the patty with the cheese on it. There’s nothing like a patty on a burger bun, but as a companion to the white rice, it is a curiosity for those non-rice meal-eating individuals who prefer their burgers on the bun.

The presentation of the packaging alone says it’s a “premium” product that shows 7-Eleven is committed to local food that attracts its consumers. But they are not as cheap to the point only the “masa” (masses) would appreciate. The concept here is to uplift that Filipino standard into something that is not just stuck in those levels of quality and you got yourself a community that looks for higher quality and keeping with relevance something “new” to the eyes and taste of the locals.

Presentation is a Must

Of course, the packaging won’t be in any discussion without looking at how the product is presented, and at first, you think you feel the product’s cost went to the packaging rather than the food itself. This one has found its way to produce the product with an equal amount of portions at the same time to make it stand out.

The shape of the container might throw you off, but when you have it prepared you would say it all comes together on how they have come up with that shape, graphic, and presentation at the same time the price you pay that you hope it is worth it.

Overall, the Hamburg Steak Curry stands out not because of that fistful of a patty with cheese wrapped around it. The amount of Curry sauce was the best part of the meal. The underrated part is the amount of rice was not enough for it. But everything else was a win for this dish to be the new favourite.

  • Food Quality: 4 out of 5
  • Affordability: A
  • Overall: The bulging patty despite being good without the curry sauce still needs to be dipped in to add that flavourful goodness, and the rice was not enough.
