A small business when it is all about food-related is a challenging enterprise, and mostly if it has not established a name or identity needs to go through A LOT of hoops to be able to make it. Sometimes it may takes years or it would be a short lived ideas that would never work, In the case of Mang Cesar, there’s an opportunity to put that name, brand, and content all together.
Mang Cesar that established its brand and services in 2020 opened a branch nearby sometime in August 2022, and slowly learning from being a restaurant to this new location. Beginnings have some lessons to learned, and it also needs to establish itself to the neighbor around that they would be sticking around for a long time. |
Of course, with the last three months things would definitely change and it would depends on the public’s reception how they treat their customers at the same time give good service regarding their menu. It has been a while and the changes had drastically happened starting with the change of the menu’s price list.
There are growing challenges there, but as they say you have to do it better. With that they’ve been trying to do that though appears without no effort. For this spotlight looking through the list in their menu was the Chicken Sisig. In the last three months the price jump affected this product, but not the quality as it goes the ringer.
Chicken Sisig
It is purely established that Mag Cesar serves Filipino dishes from roasted pork and beef to having a list of other roasted or fried offerings. Their Chicken Sisig was something to try out, and instead of having it dine-in taking a look close to their product it was ordered for take away.
The presentation as always is on a foil tub with a tiny “Mang Cesar” branding on a white cardboard/foil cover. It is worth noting how they are keeping a product call back to how the store would look like as the branch where this product was purchased shows their façade is painted in white.
It’s All about Quality & Service
No doubt the service is great, but after coming from their store they failed to issue a receipt, and you know when you purchase something it has to have a copy. Not hand written or printed as long as there is one to show proof of purchase and if there is any concern the customer can address it that they have purchased food from thm.
Unfortunately, they did not issue a receipt and they should be straightforward without any question as observed they did not even bother. Regarding the food, the Chickek Sisig looks good and quality of the dish is top notch, however they failed in the presentation how they packaged the Sisig and the steamed rice altogether,
Previously, we can agree it is normal to have the roasted chicken packed with the white steamed rice wrapped on wax paper, But with a Chicken Sisig they should have gotten better by then with flattening the rice and just put the sisig on top. But it’s like they rushed how they were put together and clearly that was it.
Overall most who have reviewed their branch or how they served the food would say “they could have done better,” but their lack of enthusiasm and how the staff give service to their customers’ clearly shows that the typical Filipino saying “this have to do” that shows they failed on this part.
Not issuing a receipt and the way they packed take away food is not good for their business, which they have failed already to even take accountability in accepting this as a learning experience. Also, food portions versus price point is in question and you can add that to being short to getting a good grade.
- Food Quality: 3 out of 5
- Affordability: B-
- Overall: Did not issue Reciept and Food Presentation Diminished their Quality
