This will certainly suit your curiosity about this so called ‘mystery sub’ that they‘ve been trying to spread through word of mouth. Is it worth the experience in having one? There have been a few chicken sandwich that Subway have in their list, but this new ‘Limited Time Only’ Chicken Mala Sub had a brilliant way of being marketed through digital site by local broadsheets, and local personalities talking about it as a ‘segue’ to their conversation as part of how they try to market the product.
But does it holds up as one of the best limited time offers from Subway? This would depend on anyone’s experience, and honestly after so much ‘hype’ surrounding this just holds up. It might not be as what you highly expected, but if you are health buff and looking for alternative this sub might be right up your alley.
Chicken Mala
Mala chicken is typically made of deep fry crispy chicken cooked in a spicy sauce. The sauce contains various spices, including Sichuan peppercorn, ginger, garlic, and chilies. But with Subway’s version it is already prepared and ready to be heated up before being buried with their fresh veggies.
Of course, their sauce is entirely different and talked about as the ‘secret’ that makes it even better. The new ingredient, concocted with a burning passion that can surely be something to experience on your first bite.
Famously popular in China and many parts of Asia, this spicy blend is made from chili peppers, aromatics, and spices like garlic, ginger, star anise, cinnamon, and cardamom, mixed with the ever-popular mouth-numbing Sichuan peppercorns.

For this Chicken Mala Sub, the sandwich used is Parmesan Oregano, and requested the other ingredients like the sauce is tailor-made for this. Of course, they have to splurge all the vegetable that is allowed to make this sandwich with everything than leaving behind as they say ‘no stone unturned’ to have them all.
There are so many flavours in it once you get the first bite, and the crunchiness is palpable and the sauce works well in making you have that great Chicken Mala experience, and that never gives you after taste though it is one of the best subs that Subway Philippines ever produced only for a limited time.
Overall the fresh veggies makes it richer to compliment the Chicken Mala as Secret Menu that is worth having seconds. It’s all up to you to choose the best sauce to tie it together as one of the sandwiches you should not miss having any which way you want as this won’t stick around after 2022.
