Rice Meal Express | Plant-Based Swedish Meatballs

Meatballs are a personal favourite, it is either with Sweet & Sour Sauce or prepared as Swedish Meatballs they are something you don’t have every day. IKEA tops them all now that they have Plant-Based versions that can be also purchased to take home and have them at the confines of your dining table. 7-Eleven has just recently launched its plant-based take on the meatballs as part of the Rice Meal Express range, which was originally composed of breakfast rice meals. But this one comes as a coincidence together with the Arroz a la Cubana that preceded these two types of viand was kind of similar to what Shopwise Supermarket has.

In just a few short weeks 7-Eleven rolled their take on the Arroz à la Cubana, and it is part of the range of plant-based meals in collaboration with Un-Meat. It is no surprise to see that a convenience store like 7-Eleven would produce their interpretation of this rice meal that would be their latest product that started appearing over the weekend. Coincidence? Or it just so happens that Shopwise Supermarket just happened to have a similar product, and 7-Eleven happened to come up with their take on the same dish that is more affordable than the regular Arroz à la Cubana, but with a twist in making it plant-based along with their take on the Meatballs becomes a curious proposition.

There are Chicken Burgers that is currently a popular cuisine for most fast food restaurants in the last three years, and then there are limited time only meals that are inspired by the current trend in popular culture. Namely, the ever growing K-Pop Culture in music and other forms of media that shaped the Filipinos current interest. Of course, with that there have been special collaborations like the one with that fast food restaurant giant that made a trend last year with meals tailor made to their colours as well as limited time only snacks. The K-Pop trend has also caught up with 7 Eleven with their latest snacks that includes the K-Style Plant-Based Chicken Burger that was recently started to appear in their stores.

Burger Steak is a mainstream dish popularize worldwide originating from Germany courtesy of migrants from that country. The people of Hamburg developed a dish of minced meat that was molded into the shape of a steak and then grilled and served with gravy dating back to the 18th century. Nowadays, you can find Burger Streak anywhere in the world and in the Philippines it has been localized that a certain fast food chain has made it into their signature meal. 7 Eleven, however takes the Burger Steak to a new level, and made it into a vegetarian delicacy in collaboration with UnMEAT that became available sometime in 2021.
