"Beef Kaldereta” under the Pinoy Deli branding from Goldilocks known for their famous pastries is also serving up Filipino home cooking and has opened up as one of the select stores particularly in the US. Previously, the Beef Kaldereta was featured as Goldilocks brought back the dish aside from the Pork Blood Stew (Dinuguan) and Laing as their best sellers in mid-2022.
The Pinoy Deli had a re-branding in late 2022/early 2023 with all the packaging changed as well as a price bump so that the products were still the same being served and packed for consumers to take home. |
At the start of 2024, sometimes the changes won’t be noticed or announced. But if you are a company that prides itself on bringing the best quality for the product despite the price change due to the high cost of the ingredient you must be true to your vision in making sure people are going to be informed by those changes.
The gradual change is acceptable, what it is not is the non-conformity in all the places you put up your product. The Pinoy Deli range of Filipino dishes is not the first ever produced. There are competitors with lower prices while maintaining the quality that consumers are assured they are spending for what is worth for the product they are buying from.
Less is Not More
The packaging change was a refreshing look on the product that shows Goldilocks will continue to make sure it will maintain quality by at the same time, the assurance that the product won’t be just the same with a bumped-up priced dish. It comes with the territory that Goldilocks must balance the demand, quantity, and quality.
It sure doesn’t look the way that it was expected for this. The Beef Kaldereta is the must-have dish from the Pinoy Deli range and is always sold out. Besides, that it is no longer just being sold at Goldilocks outlets they are also sold at 7-Eleven stores.
Confusing Pricing
It makes sense to change the pricing gradually, but not announcing the changes or making sure people are informed is not going to help they would not even give the details on their social media for everyone to find out that there was an actual price bump on some of their products namely, the Beef Kaldereta under the Pinoy Deli range of Filipino dishes
The unfortunate part of this is it was not acquired at a 7-Eleven store but at a branch inside the SM Supermarket in the Air Residence where the product is priced at ₱ 130.00 Pesos ($ 3.49 AUD | $ 2.34 USD)**. If the staff had not given feedback the lone staff won’t be in a rush to rip the sticker price on their display.
Overall, would you be disappointed if you found out the sticker price was not the actual price when you were about to pay for the product? Of course, when they actually did not update the actual price of their said product and just sat there staring at their phones and not doing their work diligently.
The other thing about this is the product has been having a price bump recently, and you see that the content of the packet is not even enough for one person to pay that kind of price. The rice meals at Shopwise have the same price range, and yet they have more to give than this poor showing.
- Food Quality: 2.5 out of 5
- Affordability: C-
- Overall: Price Bump does not justify the content of the Dish.
