“Kaldereta” or Caldereta is a Filipino dish of a goat meat stew, but there have been variations that mostly use Beef, Chicken, or Pork. Usually, this is stewed with vegetables and liver paste. Vegetables may include tomatoes, potatoes, olives, bell peppers, and hot peppers. Kaldereta sometimes includes tomato sauce.
It is not common seeing it being the everyday lunch meal, but with Goldilocks range of ready-to-eat viands known as “Pinoy Deli,” which is paired with rice it is something you’d try it once in a while. Pinoy Deli is a range of viands, much like another brand that was introduced a decade ago that became something of an instant thing without the need to prepare for lunch and dinner after a busy day. |
The “Pinoy Deli” brand has been around for the last five years offering Filipino dish packed in a sachet that you need to heat it up using hot water, and they’re not the usual frozen meal that you need to put into a microwave oven. This packed in a sealed sachet like most meal that were packed as canned goods.
But the difference is this is a ready-to-eat viand without the need to use the microwave oven, but rather heated by submerging its entire packet under water until it is being cooked for less than three minutes without the need to remove it from the packaging and once you have cooked it within the time you cut it open and ready to be served with your steamed white rice.
The packaging features a photo of the product and nutrition details at the back that also includes the ingredients. There are two other products under the Pinoy Deli range of viands that is exclusively sold at Goldilocks.
Filipino Comfort Food
Pinoy Deli is a comfort food by Goldilocks, a restaurant entirely known for its pastries, cakes, and other sweet things that slowly expanded their portfolio serving Filipino food. During the pandemic their lunch meals were in-demand that most of the ones in the menu under the Pinoy Deli branding was discontinued.
The Beef Caldereta was one of them disappeared from the line-up even before the pandemic happened due to being an in-demand product. When cooking a Caldereta there’s a lot of preparations involve and it is time consuming, which for the reason why most locals gravitate in having this instant read-to-eat product.
Homey Kind of Meal
The Beef Caldereta doesn’t get much credit for being one of the popular viands offered by Goldilock under their Pinoy Deli meal. When you pour it on top of a steamed rice it surely gives you the details, texture, colour, and having that home-cooked experience that they have carefully perfected from their other products.
It’s an excellent dinner when you do not have time to cook all you need is put it out from your fridge and submerge it in water on a saucepan for 2-3 minutes and you got your viand to pair up with what leftover rice you have for that night.
Overall this product was once discontinued not because of the pandemic, but due to the demand how it is rare a ready-to-eat product would be this good at the same time underappreciated because not everyone is aware Goldilocks have this type of brand besides having the popular pastries that they’ve known for.
