Foodie Spotlight | BK Double Cheeseburger

When you talk about a Double Cheeseburger there's a golden arches come to mind. It never was about another brand like Burger King. It only becomes a conversation when you mention the Whopper in some kind of capacity for being that different, which stands out as the brand’s identity that made them collective conscious to everyone.

Aside from the Whoppers there’s nothing beyond that unlike if the conversation if there was any Kids Toy Meal is involve, which is no longer about the food that was slowly omitted from Burger King Philippines’ menu and portfolio way back sometime in early 2009. But they do have other burgers aside from the Whopper and the X-tra Long Chicken Sandwich and that’s their version of a Double Cheeseburger.

True to the local consciousness, it is the Whopper that really keeps Burger King the other fast food restaurant beside the “Big Two” in the Philippines. There’s no doubt about a conversation of thinking about their other product aside from the recent ‘always sold out’ Chicken King the food on people’s minds is their monster burgers.

The other burgers can be considered just an added ‘to the list’ in their menu that can be pass up or just slowly disappear in the majority of their consumer’s minds. But when you really look and have a deep dive on Burger King’s menu there are more to just Whoppers, X-Tra Long Chicken Sandwich, and Chicken King.

It’s not just that and their fatty fries, Burger King emphasize on their burgers for the reason they have that name. Unless you’re in Australia and you just traveled there looking for a Burger King you might want to look for a Hungry Jacks instead.

Double the Cheesiest

Flame-Grilled range of burgers at Burger King is just understated. They have the four-cheese whopper and they also have that Double Cheeseburger. BK is subtle trolling their American compatriot with their version of this type of sandwich with their cheesiest rendition that it is entirely different only in the name in similarity.

You can immediately see it, well, uh… The wrapper doesn’t say it all until you just have to open it to believe it. The immediate difference is the sesame seed buns BK use, and of course the texture is not like their neigbouring rival but it really shows.

It is not a Whopper

Let it be clear this is not a Whopper, and it definitely noticeable of the use of the bun and the ingredients that made this Double Cheeseburger quite the BK way it was prepared. The signature flame-grilled style cooking is the most obvious reasons why it has that same way biting on a Whopper.

Scrumptious on its own and definitely not the usual burger you have with that clown. BK has their other burgers and they are also unnoticed due to the popularity of their flagship burger. But if you are into exploring through their menu you might want to try their other burger dishes and not stick to the usual rice meals.

Overall it is now a Whopper but it holds its own for being flame-grilled and a little bit premium with the sesame seed buns to add some good measure to the competition. It is the cheesiest Double Cheeseburger and that makes this quite a fine sandwich to try if you haven’t explored BK;s menu beyond their Whopper and Chicken sandwiches.

  • Food Quality: 4 out of 5
  • Affordability: B+
  • Overall: A Srirarcha Sauce adds an Extra Kick to it.
