Foodie Spotlight | McSpaghetti

The McSpaghetti has been re-branded previously, and the last time it was marketed as ‘new and improve’ goes back in 2018. The product was introduced in their menu along with the McChicken in the late 1980s, but the inclusion and rebranding of other products would continue to the early 1990s when the famous burger was changed too.

This was of course, embraced by the locals and also trying to match up with a certain fast food giant that they haven’t toppled since their arrival. For those from outside the Philippines, the McSpaghetti is unknown and not considered to become part of McDonald’s menu. Unless you’re discovering it right here that it does exist.

Like the localized product for McDonald’s the McSpaghetti is served as part of the Happy Meal menu offer that includes the Chicken McDo, Burger McDo, and Chicken McNuggets. It can be ordered through as a regular meal, but most kids would want their pasta goodness while playing with their toy that was offered for that day.

The packaging is new, as previous design does not emphasis the Spaghetti noodle graphic like a sea of waves formed into a pasta. There no other details on the box aside the name of the food, McDonald’s branding, and the temperature needed to keep the spaghetti warm that can be found at the back of the box.

Not-so Perfect Pasta

It is not what you had in mind when you first saw the photo of the product in the menu or in the digital board when you place your food orders. For some reasons the spaghetti have a rough time in transit. But you can see the food portions is not what you thought it would be, like have more than being ‘just a portion.’

The spaghetti noodles are thick, but the sauce is not enough to have a good pasta experience, and it appears a little bit liquidity where the sauce is not like mixed properly. It’s not as packed as you may compare to their main competitor that already knows their customers while this one really needs to appear like being on a budget.

Extra Fries, Optional

The Spaghetti meal is usually served with a drink and have the option to have an extra fries, hence the slight price increase that’s a couple pesos less than the Chicken McDo. It’s a regular fries appearing to be packed with thin fries, and would be the same portion on the medium where only the packaging looks to size up.

It is worth noting that their fries is still good, but comparing to the one served in Australia it is understandable that they might sort their ingredients locally due to the difference and why the ones in Oz does taste like the ‘Worlds Famous Fries’ and the one in the Philippines doesn’t.

Overall the spaghetti was not the most satisfying experience to have with the liquidity noodles and the not so saucy enough to make it look like it is a pasta that you’ve known for a long time. The fries are great, but the way it appears and taste are not ‘World Famous’ but you got to understand that part where they got it. The rest, as they say is just a moment to past the time to have a decent take away meal.

  • Food Quality: 3 out of 5
  • Affordability: B-
  • Overall: Spaghetti noodles are liquidity, the sauce is not enough, and the fries loks like stunted its growth.
  • Customer Service: Direct to the poing, no Filipino drama.
