In the Philippines, Burger King has been around since 1997, and right out of the gate their flagship sandwich was the Whopper that has been on top of their menu that have expanded and had many spinoff version of the flame grilled sandwich. It is still the most popular sandwich due to its size and serving.
Throughout the years, they (BK Philippines) continue to maintain that distinct flavour despite the franchise change of hands with Jollibee as its current franchise operator for the country. With all the changes consistency in serving their popular sandwiches is what makes their identity intact and relevant.
Whopping Your Way
The Whopper having so many iterations and variations of the sandwich continues to be the sandwich most locals gravitate due to size and serving. It is not for those looking for a diet or losing weight. It is for ‘cheat days’ and just reward yourself kind of day as it has the meatiest patty with sliced tomatoes, onions, and lettuce.
Of course, they had sauce in it that includes mayo and ketchup to give more flavour when you chomp it down for a hearty meal. This is enough for your lunch time and not for the portion eater. But they have the Whopper Jr. for those not having too much of their way to finish a large sandwich.
Meatier Than Ever
With that large sandwich it should have the patty that matches its size, and the diverse ingredients to making a Whopper a good whopping meal. But it depends on who’s serving it and if the store is consistent in serving the same flavourful sandwich over and over again. It’s a challenge for Burger King to keep up with competition.
Sometimes you might notice their burgers are bit dry, and that doesn’t look good for the eyes. Fortunately, this one was just right without any hassles and have good parts of what makes a Whopper burger great to have.
Overall, with the changes and price increase the Whopper continues to be a respectable sandwich for Burger King. It’s the servers challenge to continue and deliver the same quality of burgers what most people pay for. The problem is some might not be consistent and the customer needs to keep an eye for what they get.
- Food Quality: 4 out of 5
- Affordability: B+
- Overall: A bit pricey, but you get what you pay for. Just a bit dry.
