Wendy's Philippines | Big Macaroni Salad

There have been many local food establishments in the Philippines, and only a very small percentage served vegetable-related menu items. Anywhere to go most that served western cultured dish don’t even have ‘greens’ in them when you compared to countries like Australia or Singapore they truly are a health conscious nation.

The price increase on goods is understandable, and you get what you pay for with benefits on both sides that never happen in this country for a lot of reason why health is not taken seriously. Wendy’s is known to have been carrying salads and other ‘greens’ despite not have veggie sandwiches that other competitors have served.

But they’re ahead of their time when they’ve been serving salads since expanding their franchise outside the US. There have been other competitors, but those were outlasted because they can’t continue carrying the same menu that Wendy’s have taken it and become their stapled product.

With their variation of salads there’s nothing like the one you can build your own in their salad bar. But things have been drastically changing over the years since the pandemic and they no longer have that for dine-in customers. But they continue to retain the same famous Macaroni salad they have in their venue and more.

Battered Veggie

The salad is good, but the service is less desired when they take care of take away product. The one I’ve gotten looks like it was battered on a travel in a short distance because the guy at the counter did not put tape on it and spilled its juice all over the eco bag. The salad is intact and yet it is noticeable how it was bit a ruined in transit.

All they need to do is being ‘mindful’ about securing the product not to have the top get opened. Luckily, the salad itself did not spill over to the bag that would have been a different story altogether regarding this product. But it did made a slight mess as you all know the Macaroni salad is not dry food.

Good Meal, not the price

Everything has increased its cost, and for that, they should still maintain product and service on a high standard, not Filipino Standard. Because you continue to serve with great quality in product not just service in taking care of your consumer. The macaroni salad is still a staple favourite that needs to be secured when it is ordered as a take away and just shoving it into the eco-bag.

From the onset of perspective, the Big Macaroni is not what it used to be with that portion on its plate, where it used to be a little crowded and you already know why it’s a bit spacy in there. Obviously, the portion is noticeable in this big plate compared previously that you feel you’re paying the price to now.

Overall it is still one of the rare food establishments to serve salads, and the macaroni is top of the list from Wendy’s, but with all the changes and what’s been happening recently, the product is starting to show its lack of quality by way of the food portion, and the inconsistent way of securing the product from take away customers. They should not falter in both categories but it is really obvious.

  • Food Quality: 4 out of 5
  • Affordability: B-
  • Overall: Product not secured for Take Away, Food Portion is Obvious
