If you’re not from the Philippines, the word “Menudo” sums about so many things. It can be that Puerto Rican Boy Band or that Mexican Soup, and sometimes a Mixtape of Latin Songs related to the name.
But most of the time if you have been to the Philippines it is that familiar home cooked stew that your Lola, Auntie, or your mum’s original take on that stew. But then again, it can be one of the popular frozen meals from 7 Eleven’s list of Big Time Meals that you always miss grabbing during lunch time, which they were selling out because it was so popular that you need to go to another 7 Eleven to find it. |
The Big Time Meals take on Menudo is something of a challenge to even make it into a take away frozen meal. The stew itself can is easily become a spoiled food and you must consume the product immediately if it was home cooked. But for a frozen meal that’s looks kinda impressive for making it unspoiled.
It’s one of the usual food that has sauce can easily get spoiled upon transit that needs to be consumed. This is also a hot seller in the Big Time Meals menu. You don’t see the Menudo in stock and most of the time they only get stock sparingly. It is a popular Filipino dish let alone a celebrated meal to have during lunch.
Medium Time Meals
A stew like this Menudo to become a frozen meal is something to have, and the way 7 Eleven package it appears to be slightly smaller than the usual Big Time Meals. The previous products under this was quite a favourite, but the Menudo appears to be in a ‘Medium’ size category for being called ‘Big Time.’
Probably, this is the only nitpick on the product and it makes sense since a Menudo stew is expensive if you order it as restaurants that serve it. You can say it is a premium kind of dish and that is why it flies off the freezer shelf the moment it gets stock to any 7 Eleven store, and they are the only convenient store that mastered the art in making it an affordable meal maintaining its quality.
Authentic Filipino Stew
Everything has increased its cost, and for that, they should still maintain product and service on a high standard, not Filipino Standard. Because you continue to serve with great quality in product not just service in taking care of your consumer. The macaroni salad is still a staple favourite that needs to be secured when it is ordered as a take away and just shoving it into the eco-bag.
From the onset of perspective, the Big Macaroni is not what it used to be with that portion on its plate, where it used to be a little crowded and you already know why it’s a bit spacy in there. Obviously, the portion is noticeable in this big plate compared previously that you feel you’re paying the price to now.
There’s nothing like serving it hot, and wanting more Menudo on your white rice. The dish is just fine, the other noticeable observation is not enough rice to fill the saucy goodness of this Big Time Meal despite being medium size. There’s so much authentic flavours in it that made it taste very Menudo.
It is quite a meal having it replicated in a budget frozen meal that can be afforded by anyone. It may sound overrated, but you can never find a Menudo sold at a 7 Eleven outside the Philippines and have that kind of home cooking experience for that it was greatly favourable to say you got to have one sometime.
