Uma Delica | Chicken Teriyaki

Chicken Teriyaki is a staple Japanese Cuisine that has become popular all over the world. It depends on the ingredients and how it is prepared outside Japan. It is considered a popular bento meal that has been adored by many and have become part of most people’s everyday dish.

In the Philippines, there have been several local restaurants and supermarkets that carry this meal either as part of the menu or a take away lunch meal that you can bring it home and heat it up in your microwave. The ones in restaurant is of course prepared and cooked for you to dine-in, but the ones in the Japanese supermarket depends on how authentic and believable the dish is up to the consumer.

Few have tried and dared to produce it in the context of a budget meal and some have been not as good as they hyped the product. For a Japanese supermarket like New Hatchin it must be real good for its authentic servings of the best dishes from their native land of the rising sun.

New Hatchin has been around and has opened other branches all over Metro Manila, but the one in Makati City has been open since the early 2000s and have produced lunch meals that are original and authentic, which is close to the budget you’re looking for. But recent changes and increase on the price point due to the global pandemic definitely made their products a little pricey.

Authentic and Original

But that doesn’t mean their quality has waned prior to what have everyone experienced. They have been consistent with their product and that makes them one of the go to places to pick up take away lunch meals just like the Chicken Teriyaki.

They have two version of the Teriyaki while the Chicken is uncommon, the most you’ll find if you’re not early to see the variety of dishes they have will only find the Beef Teriyaki. Usually, they are freshly cooked and getting them on the shelves as early as 10 AM for you to have that option to choose the other products they have.

Teriyaki Goodness

Authentic and affordable if you’re looking to have the best meal of the day. Over the years New Hatchin has rebranded their lunch meals under the Uma Delica name to consolidate all their Bento meals that not only they only provide the best Japanese dish to choose from in taking it home they also cook some originals too.

But knowing authentic means it takes time for them to prepare those said dishes. The best quick meals are those packed lunch like the Chicken Teriyaki, which definitely not the regular you see on those shelves and it is as authentic as you can have the experience having it without the need to go to an expensive restaurant.

Overall the meal that they have over the years continue to retain the same quality, but the price increase makes you think of other options. Sometimes if you have the budget spend on the best quality money can buy, and you can have it once in a while that is definitely worth it though not every single day unlike back in the day.

  • Food Quality: 4 out of 5
  • Affordability: B
  • Overall: Eveyrthing is right it's just the price.
