Chef Creations | Lechon Dinuguan

Dinuguan (Pork Blood Stew) is a popular Filipino dish made of typical pork meat stewed with rich, spicy dark gravy of pig blood, garlic, chili, and vinegar. There have been several interpretations and variations of this famed dish, and usually can be home cooked or as part of a menu to any food establishment in the country.

It has become a world class dish too, you can find them as part of a menu by Filipinos, who started their business and migrated to other countries. But back home it is basically anywhere, and it is considered a convenient food with 7 Eleven presenting it as part of their Chef Creations collaboration with Rico’s Lechon.

Globally recognized Cebu’s Best Lechon place has team-up with 7 Eleven to bring one of the famous Filipino dishes as part of their Chef Creations range, which in turn a sub-product under their well-known Big Time Meals as a more premium product aiming to bring high quality food for an affordable price.

They certainly made that possible with Lechon Dinuguan, which is always a hit with the masses who look for convenient and affordable comfort food. The delicacy is just one of the Chef Creations dishes. But what this make this product stand out is the collaboration of a well-known restaurant from Cebu.

Bloody Good Stew

Dinuguan is not entirely a common dish sold in a convenient store, where most you can find this available as part of a menu in one of the local restaurants around the country. Even a Jollijeep (local food truck) have them in their menu, but not as a meal that you can take home and heat it with a microwave.

This is where 7 Eleven stands out of the competition among the convenient store carrying an original product that gives you good quality in an affordable price. It won’t be popular without its simple presentation down to the graphic of the cardboard slip cover and the image featuring the product.

Image is Not Everything

Simple direction in how you cook it on a microwave, and it is just like mum’s home cooking when you have the chance to take one home. It is worth noting that despite the attractive graphic on the packaging it doesn’t look as what you expected, but it taste good for a meal that’s usually cooked for an hour.

But this is convenient food and that’s what 7 Eleven is bringing to your house without the need to dine-in to a restaurant and wait for it to be prepared for you. The dish itself may not be photogenic or ‘instagramable’ it delivers its promise avoiding the long times of preparing and cooking it, which is already ready for you to heat it up.

Overall this Chef Creations stands out and it is always sold out, and there’s nothing like a Pork Blood Stew for that rare lunch that shows you can still have good quality meal without the need to pay premium in a restaurant, but all you need is just a minute or two to have it heated in a microwave and viola!

  • Food Quality: 4 out of 5
  • Affordability: A
  • Overall: Home Cooked Feels
