Goldilocks 4th Cake Expo Flies High!

02.24.2013 – Goldilocks has been organizing the Cake Decoration competition for the past 8 years and the Cake Expo is in its fourth year. This year was bigger and vibrant with happy colors that want to take you high.

The theme for this year was actually ‘Let Your Imagination Fly’ to go beyond the previous successful Cake Expos.

As shared by Goldilocks Marketing Director Pinky T. Yee. “We’ve lined up exciting activities for the whole family, and will be launching new initiatives such as ‘Fly for Hope’ and the Goldilocks Gtizen Card,” she added.

The event featured a bigger venue held at the Hall 4 of the SMX Convention Center. It was a whole day affair that started wit the opening ceremonies as early as 9AM people started to line up at the entrance.

Once you enter the venue you’ll see interactive booths and exhibitors who support this annual event. For the first time at the Cake Deco Expo, Goldilocks will feature a truly unique “Fly for Hope” booth. With a P20 donation, attendees can design their very own balloon cake to be launched in the air, with all the proceeds going to the Goldilocks Foundation F.E.E.D. Program. Through the years, Goldilocks has supported various communities through their Feeding Program, Education, Environment, and Disaster Assistance initiatives. As always, the event culminates in the annual Intercollegiate Cake Decorating Challenge (ICDC), which is now on its eighth installment.

Ten schools from all over the Philippines will compete live on a kitchen stage, decorating different cakes under a time limit, all without prior knowledge of the cake themes and/or decorating parameters. “This is the perfect opportunity to highlight future pastry chefs, and provide support to Hotel and Restaurant and Culinary Arts training at the school level,” Yee emphasized. Indeed, the Overall Champion will receive a baking showcase for their school worth over PhP 250,000.00 pesos apart from individual prizes.

It was a festive even that also gave the visitors the chance to decorate their cup cake or leave their mark at the huge art wall. The program was hosted once again by radio DJs Chico Garcia and Delamar Arias with performance of the Malabon Community Band opening the inter-school cake decoration challenge.

The competition was a grueling 90 minute with 10 team finalist vying for this year’s title. There were two themes that were revealed for the competition and they are “Mardi Gras” and “Filipiniana” which each team should produce using cup cakes.

It was as festive on a Sunday that one team emerged as the winner for this year earning the award for the best school to win the competition. Goldilocks will continue to support and hone the next baker in the country with this event and just like the previous cake expo it gets bigger and better!
