Besides the Rice Meals found just in their chiller, the rotisserie wasn’t much of a noticeable section other than their roasted chicken in the bag that is good enough for 2-4 people. But they don’t have the combo meal that has rice and a few slices of roasted chicken for a solo takeaway.
Well, until they started putting out roasted chicken meals with rice that gets a slow attention aside from their popular rice meals. It became more noticeable with the addition of the roasted pork belly. But around the time of the discovery, the packaging looked like the product didn’t appear “professional” with a cardboard box rather than a plastic microwaveable tub similar to the rice meals they have offered.
The “All-New” Roasted Pork Belly
A few days ago, Shopwise repacked their product as it was previously featured contained only on a cardboard disposable box. It doesn’t look secure though unlike its Roasted Chicken which looks more premium than this one. Those changes were noticed through social media, and you got to acknowledge their subtle response.
It’s good to see them similar to the roasted chicken packed in a microwaveable tub, and it makes the products uniform and not an outside product in a cheap cardboard container that can be easily broken. The Mang Tomas dip certainly showed the inferior cardboard back could not have liquid in it.
Too cooked to be good
Roasted Pork Belly is a new favourite that doesn’t get the notice that most have experienced it coming back for their second and third taste of sliced and diced meat. It is something you can never get enough, of and should not be a regular one on your plate. But at least have a try once a week for your “cheat day.”
This one though was the last on the rotisserie as the ones left are roasted chicken, which needs some adoration too. But you can never get enough roasted pork belly with that Mang Tomas dip dripping all over it is quite sublime to not have one for lunch. The packaging is an improvement, and you have to give props to Shopwise for taking notice in their most subtle way.
Overall, having a second go at their Roasted Pork Belly is always a good lunch experience. Hopefully, they do not over-roast the pork to the point it appears to be burnt and not having some crunch on those pork skins. The rest is all good making it a hot pick for this week.
- Food Quality: 4 out of 5
- Affordability: A
- Overall: Be careful not to over-roasting the pork as it appears to be burnt in the packaging.
