Lawson’s is one of the more competitive convenience stores to step up and bring their version of what is a home-style dish that is ready to serve and consumed.
Competition brings the good in most convenience stores nowadays coming up with their original dishes, and try to capture a market that is dominated by this type of lunch meals that can be easily heated via a microwave or an easy toaster as most people have no time to prepare for food and they just want a convenient way to eat. |
Lawson’s is creating their food and continues to impress consumers from behind the scenes with their meals and rarely do you hear them boast about their new product. But it is something they are making it on how they market their product and it is kind of impressive how the subtle approach through word of mouth works.
Sometimes, all you need is to impress them through the product they put out and see it works. It is either a hit or miss, but sometimes feedback makes them learn and improve their craft in taking their product to the next level and it will work its way back and find the right crowd without the need to be loud and they just wing it.
Small on the Outside, Packed on the Inside
There’s something of a good presentation when you see it, and this is no exception that their Chicken BBQ is an impressive meal and this is the second attempt at trying out this product. Because the first one was not what you hoped for. This time, just have it and take it like the ‘usual meal’ and try to gauge it.
The packaging of course would put you off because it does look small. It is smaller than the usual lunch meals they have. But once you take it home and prepare it to be heated you’ll probably be impressed by it. The sliced chicken cutlets are just resting above the Java Rice and it looks like there was no space enough, and you’re right but when you get to prepare it the size portions unravel.
Chicken BBQ
At the heart of the meal is the Chicken BBQ, and for every review featuring a dip or a sauce it is the added taste that makes the flavor go around and connect with the main meal. You can have slices of that white meat. But what makes it go is the dip or the sauce and that part needs more.
The Java Rice is great together with the Chicken BBQ, but the dip is not filled to the brim of that little container. It is the first one that is noticeable when it comes to grilled meat that needs its sauce and if it lacks that how can you fully appreciate the entirety of the meal if that was not enough?
Overall, it is to be desired to have a Chicken BBQ and Lawson’s nailed every checklist of what a packed lunch can be and served for an affordable price. There’s stiff competition among the convenience stores and Lawson’s is slowly emerging to have their own set of meals that would compete and find its way to your table.
The key here is being consistent with what they can offer. Sometimes, it can be underwhelming. But the important part of it is keeping it simple, direct, and impress a consumer who needs to fill that tiny container of Barbecue Sauce as it is lacking that part that makes the Chicken BBQ stand out.
