Popeye’s return to the Philippine food industry was a long researched and plan as the first time a franchise opened in the early 2000s did not pan out well to find out what exactly the consumers are into. It did not last long enough to even have their chance at cracking the market, and around that time people are not ready for their menu.
While Popeye’s pulled out from Asia almost a decade ago the return was different this time for the Philippine market when in need the most. The infusion and renewed interest in the interest for Chicken sandwiches was the hook everyone needed and of course everyone followed suit.
Some long time food establishments re-branded their take on the chicken sandwich. Thus, the chicken sandwich wars in the country was definitely on. Some expanded their menu while others stick to their guns thinking their take is more flavourful as any other fast food restaurant out there. But the judgement is reserved for the customers and food bloggers to hand out the verdict on that part.
French Quarter Moment
Prior to the introduction of the US Spicy Chicken to the Philippine market Popeye’s first introduced their Chicken French Quarter in their early days back in 2019. It is their biggest sandwich to get you hooked on their product. It was always sold out during those days since Popeye’s was “new” to the local scene.
But this sandwich would take a backseat from the latter chicken sandwich becoming the second fiddle to the current flagship product for Popeye’s. It is still one of the favourite for those were early to the game. The chicken sandwich doesn’t sound like being from France, but it gets you kicked with different flavours that makes it.
Meaty Chicken Monster
This hefty sandwich is no pushover as it is made of delicious boneless chicken, crispy bacon strips, roasted red peppers, and fresh lettuce with toasted garlic mayo on a brioche bun. Visually, you might want to take a big bite, and word of caution of advice to have an empty stomach to appreciate its goodness.
It’s considered a beast sandwich with all that spice and thick crispy boneless chicken that certainly will give you a challenge. It is considered a heavy sandwich to have during lunch time, But not advisable if you’re having one of those late night hunger pangs just to take a crunch bite out of it. But it is meaty good right when you want it.
Overall the quality Popeye’s continue to put on their product is sure a winner, and consistency wins your customers with the same high quality ingredients over this sandwich brings more good news through word of mouth.
- Food Quality: 4.5 out of 5
- Affordability: B+
- Overall: It's their original flagship sandwich that defined the brand.
