Hotta Rice | Pork Liempo

You got to have a Liempo or Pork Belly once in a while. It is a favourite dish that is the fattiest cut with alternating layers of meat and fat, making it the most flavorful of the pork cuts. This is also one of the famous Filipino cuisine marinated in a mixture of crushed garlic, vinegar, salt, and pepper before being grilled.

7 Eleven also have this in the Hotta Rice budget meal not to be mistaken with the Big Time Meals version of the Grilled Liempo, which is also offered for a slightly higher budget. This version, however is sliced into strips of Liempo and is a crowd pleaser often sold out in most branches and rarely stocked due to demand.

Nobody don’t want to miss out having a Pork Liempo, and most of the time it is a pricy meal. But 7 Eleven manages to make it into one of the popular dish for the Hotta Rice branding, and it doesn’t disappoint unless they do not include the sauces that needs for it to be that kind of meal they have advertised.

Most of the Filipino dishes needs a sauce and a Liempo doesn’t come with that kind of option, which understandable for keeping the product under the budget. It is the top Hotta Rice meal that flies off the freezer shelf, and the most convenient meal to have if you work in the office and wanting something feels like ‘home cooked.’

Liempo Dips & Sauces: Optional

Unlike the previous Hotta Rice Meals, the Pork Liempo usually comes with a separate packet of sauces (depends on a 7 Eleven Store or if you inquire to remind them) just like the Pork Siomai needs its soy sauce. Because it is a budget meal, usually it is already handed to you without the included key ingredient.

This also depends on the 7 Eleven staff who is serving, and sometimes they really tend to forget to include those said packets. But if you have it dined in the store they include those said sauces or most of the times they don’t have it.

Belly Good Meal

But if you have the necessary sauces to include to the pork belly before you heat it up in the microwave it makes the dish even better. Of course, providing that depends on what you have to make it your best lunch meal for a Pork Liempo dish.

The optional best to include is Mang Tomas, a Lechon dip that would go well with the dried Pork Liempo strips that’s just sitting on top of the white rice. It is the most common option or go with something premium like a barbecue smoked sauce.

Still, the best if you don’t have these options a packet of spicy and soy sauce would be great to inquire with the 7 Eleven staff that they may or may not provide to make the meal to have that good lunch experience.

Overall the most favourite Filipino cuisine that’s quite rare, which also need the required sauce or dip to have that good pork belly experience. Without these suggested options it may end up being a letdown dry dish you highly hoped to have the best experience that needs to have their sauces included permanently not optional.

  • Food Quality: 4 out of 5
  • Affordability: A
  • Overall: Sauce or Dip should not be optional.
