KFC Philippines | The Black Zinger Dinner

There have been many interpretations of what is a Black Hamburger most of them are from Japan, Europe, and some parts of North America. With the latest limited offerings in some of the fast food restaurants in the Philippines why no one ever bothered to check KFC. They’ve been known for odd offerings that most would try it out.

With sandwiches KFC has only the Chicken Burger or the Zinger. There’s not even a Chicken Tender that it’s mostly focused in serving Filipino-style rice meals that have become a staple in the country that moves away from what this restaurant is known for namely Chicken sandwiches. But this one just flew in under the radar with their latest limited time only offering – The Black Zinger!

By now you might be scrambling to know what’s the Black Zinger was all about and I also have that curiosity too. The other night while walking toward a nearby shopping centre to grab some grub I noticed a poster from this KFC branch. I thought this was a hallucination due to hunger but turns out this store is offering an alternate Zinger sandwich and it’s Black to boot!

The following day I checked other KFC stores within that city area to find out they are not serving a Black Zinger. I went back to the same store that offered this from the day before and it must be a limited release to this branch. There’s not event an advertisement on their Facebook page or a TV commercial to promote this and I never even bothered to ask at the counter when I ordered one.

Black Zinger-licious

The poster gives enough details of what the Black Zinger differs to the regular version and the meal cost at PHP 162.00 Pesos ($ 4.39 AUD | $3.13 USD) inclusive with a regular soda and chips (fries). The large information of how much the meal was there and if you want the fries and drink upgraded it’ll cost more. Of course, the sandwich was the one coveted interest when I lined up for this.

It took them ten minutes to serve the meal and you’ll probably have expectations, but as much as I’m curious I didn’t expect that much to know it will be underwhelming. But once it arrived on my table those questions have some feedback forming in my thoughts what’s good and needs to improve in this product. Besides I haven’t tried a black colored sandwich.

It’s Dark Spicy Zing

The Chicken Fillet dipped in Buffalo Sauce was the meat of this Zinger and it was dripping inside the box when it was served. The Black Bun with Chicken Floss on top was okay with fresh lettuce and mayo in it. What was underwhelming was not the entire final product but the serving. I had KFC Australia’s Chicken Tenders and it’s a bit bigger than this a little bit smaller than Jollibee’s famous Champ Burger.

It was simple Black with a different flavor of sauce used in the fillet that called upon my attention. The rest was just good and the serving only was the bit concern not that the Buffalo Sauce was too much to see it leaking over in one side of my sandwich. It was almost perfect but it was good in sweep chomp but a bit messy due to the sauce though.

Overall it’s not just a Black Zinger; it is a different flavor serving of KFC’s signature sandwich. There could have been more options to choose from than the overrated rice meals since KFC is known for their sandwiches. They should add more options to their sandwiches and the Black Zinger is one alternative to the usual one, but KFC Philippines should have other alternatives.

This one was good that you should try it too if you can drop by the Vito Cruz branch just along Chino Roces (Formerly Pasong Tamo) across Shopwise in Makati City as it is the only store that serves it.
