Sweet X Manila | A Hole in the Wall Place

10.29.2018 - Sweet X Manila, or known originally as Sweet Ecstasy, is a local burger joint founded in 2012 by three people. From then on, this family-owned burger joint has carved out a place in the local scene with its high-quality menu and good service from the hardworking staff, which is why this place is successful and continues to serve not only its regulars and friends but also those who discover it. I’ve been wanting to visit their closest branch, as their original store is way too far from where I was. But the opportunity to visit was on Sunday night after a long day of traveling to places I rarely visit. But this one was just right up where my route was while heading back from this Sunday’s adventure.

Sweet X Manila is not just a burger joint, but it’s a place to unwind and find the privacy to dine in and enjoy the experience of having good food. This is the reason why the location is off the grid, or the usual route is not from here.

I have heard of this place, but I haven’t had the time to plan and make it happen until I went overseas for the next two years. It’s worth noting that the timing is where there was not much of a crowd lining up, and finding the opportunity to have dinner here was good, not to take the time to observe and have that experience.

Quiet Times

When I got to the place, there were still people, but some of them slowly left. Some would have their food to go, or they would dine in. But they were not taking their time. Some are leaving so soon, or is it just the weather?

But it was personally an opportunity to spend the time after ordering the food and just observing how the staff work in cooking and serving everyone. It’s your typical burger joint, but with the type of quality you don’t see in a fast food restaurant.

Worth the Wait

In some places, you want your food served immediately. But knowing what they have on the menu, it’s not your typical meal that you throw on the wall if it sticks. They really take their sweet time in making your food, and this is why it's so ecstatically impressive to have the patience.

When your name has been called, and the food is ready to serve, you will know how it was worth the money to have the experience of dining in this place and try out whatever menu they have.

Superb Meal

Of course, they don’t have a combo, but you have the opportunity to order your burgers with complimentary fries. I don’t want to compare it to any well-known burger joints in other countries, but the quality is as close to what they serve in those places. The texture of the food, down to the details, is mouthwatering.

You can never go wrong with their Cheeseburger or their Fries. The bite at the burger is enough to forget you’re still in the Philippines and not in California. The way you see it in their product photos is the same product you’re biting into. The fries are not made for take-away, because it’s better to consume them when they serve them to you to have the best out of those chips.

Overall, if you really want to have the best burger and fries, Sweet X Manila has you covered. It’s not for everyone, but if you have the opportunity to at least have a bite of their burgers or just the fries, it would probably change your perspective on what quality food is all about.

You only need to have that opportunity to try it, and if it's not for you, it's their loss. But for this experience, it was worth the travel and wait just to get a bite at their popular cheeseburger together with their fries.
