The Baked Truffle Chicken is one of the many new meals that has been added to the ever-growing menu for 7-Eleven. It is part of the Big Time Meals range of rice meals that are tiered to be one of their premium “seasonal meals” As the Holiday Season is less than a few weeks away invite you to their take on this dish.
Usually, Big Time Meals are medium-tiered rice meals that border on the premium at the same time trying to still capture the budget-conscious consumer. The last few months have set its theme to Southeast Asian dishes from Thailand, and now setting the mood with their take on the Baked Chicken Truffle that is part of the Taiwan-themed dishes that are becoming a popular trend with the local consumer. |
The Truffle Chicken dish has many variations from roasted, friend, and with 7-Eleven’s take for their Big Time Meals as baked. The latest addition to their Big Time Meals a few weeks back has been a buzz with word of mouth that this dish has been sold out from their outlet as their take on this dish has been received positively.
It’s been a successful fortieth-anniversary celebration of 7-Eleven after opening its doors and putting stores in the Philippines, and with that, they have ramped up by introducing limited-time-only dishes, promotions, and even a Pokemon-themed store at the same time adding new store branches.
But the top on their list is making affordable meals, and introducing new ones to keep them relevant in the years to come. This is evident with the ramp-up of new delectable dishes that will surely invite you to try and get that experience with their products that are getting some raves and continue to keep you trying some more of their dishes.
Truffled Expectations
Their latest dish for Big Time Meals doesn’t only need a taste test, but the presentation is one of the impressions that make their dish favourable compared to their competitors. It’s the eye test that will grab the consumer’s attention as the way it is brought together from the container of the product to the graphic will catch their attention just like how the Baked Truffle Chicken is presented.
The black background with the fonts in gold shows how premium and attractive the product would be at the same time you can immediately see the food in the clear window of the plastic top and at the bottom is the image of the meal presented for your attention when you see it in this set-up.
Pre-Cooked Preparation
Sometimes, the product looks interesting because of the way the presentation looks inviting. But when you prepare to put it in the microwave that’s when you start having your own opinions on how the presentation shows the reality of the actual product that you hope it would be the same one in the picture.
There’s no hiding that the chicken looks a bit different from the image of the product that covers the whole plastic top. But seeing the sides like the potatoes were a bit underwhelming hoping the food portion is abundant at the same time with the dip included won’t look like it’s a pinch of that you’re getting a tiny part of it as the chicken needs a decent dip, not a tiny little container that came with it.
Portions and that Chicken
After putting it on the microwave to get the most heat on this dish the moment to have this experience of what the Baked Truffle Chicken is all about for real, and not just word of mouth how some would say is good that you should try it too. The part that is always underwhelming is the food portion.
Of course, with the price increase on ingredients nowadays it’s a challenge that 7-Eleven and other businesses in the food industry had to take. But also, the part to not sacrifice quality or quantity. The chicken is good no doubt about it. The only things that were the down part of it were the food portions with the dip, potato sides, and rice for the quality of the main attraction, which is the chicken.
Overall, the chicken did not disappoint and that’s the meat in the bones that is a huge takeaway for this dish. To keep the high standard with the main dish everything has to be sacrificed and most would say the chicken was good, and it is with less of the rice, dip, and the sides to make it happen.
But for the price, you have to factor in everything that was put together for this meal and that’s where you find the middle ground to make this dish a success despite the budget constraints.
- Food Quality: 4 out of 5
- Affordability: B-
- Overall: Sacrificed the food portions for the Chicken.
