Hotta Rice | Tofu Sisig

For over 40 years, 7-Eleven has built its identity in the Philippines as the convenience store to go to when you look for something to have for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and everything in between. Well, to celebrate the year, they have rolled out some of the best and original meals across the range that expand their menu.

This includes their hot-selling Hotta Rice meals with an exclusive featuring their Tofu Sisig viand with rice that is certainly going to fly off their shelves with the healthy style to breeze through the summer season in the country, and that’s just one meal to look forward to when you come across with this meal.

The Hotta Rice range of affordable lunch meals is one of 7-Eleven’s popular lines of Filipino-inspired dishes that you can afford and have a quick go at. They’ve changed over the years retired previous dishes and introduced new ones. But this time around, there’s an exclusive that was recently introduced.

Introducing the Tofu Sigig meal, which is part of the fortieth-anniversary line of exclusive food to celebrate 7-Eleven in the Philippines. This has been a hot seller since it became available across all 7-Elevens in Metro Manila, and it has rarely restocked the following it was released.

Taking a Tofu Peek

The packaging is consistent with the changes in how the Hotta Rice meals are stored, and the changes are minor in appearance, and not in content. In the past, they are usually stored in white paper-type bucket bowls with see-through lids so that you can see the content of the product.

It’s a gradual change to a colourful container with the image of the product on top of the lid has become a common sight for the product when you see it on the store’s display shelves. The orange-type bowl can’t be missed for this new product, and since it is an exclusive product it differs from the current Hotta Rice meals with the dish’s name can be seen on the side of the packaging.

Creamy Tofu-Licious

This limited-time-only meal is something to try out before it gets discontinued, and it does not disappoint from the time you open the lid and have it heated in a microwave. This dish is satisfying and delish for those curious about the product’s overall curiosity as the creaminess certainly makes you want to go for seconds.

When you open the lid and see the Tofu Sisig just rests on top of the rice, and it is not separated by a plastic container like most Hotta Rice dishes. It is worth noting how 7-Eleven defined instant lunch with a touch of quality in this dish and it did not disappoint when you dipped your spoon into that warm Tofu Sisig mixed with the white-hot rice that is a match for this viand.

Overall, a combination of healthy Tofu with the concept of a sisig is a must-try dish from 7-Eleven that continues to elevate its rice meal game compared to its other convenience store competitor that needs to learn how to come up with an original dish and not cutting corners when it comes to an affordably priced lunch.

  • Food Quality: 4.5 out of 5
  • Affordability: B
  • Overall: 7-Eleven needs to have a Full Meal version of the Tofu Sisig.
