Busog Meal | Chicken & Pork Adobo

Adobo is a famous dish in the Philippines that’s marinated, sauce or, seasoning. It is either using Chicken or Pork, but then again why not both? This is where 7 Eleven’s Busog Meal introduced their take on the famed dish using both Chicken and Pork to produce at the same time add their take on a lunch meal as an affordable value for your buck budget deal.

It was recently released and hasn’t been caught up by anyone that this is one of the two dishes the famed convenient store has added to their growing selection to choose from. This was actually an unexpected pick up during the time the store wasn’t totally crowded and it just pop-up sitting at the freezer shelf.

Like most of the budget products produced by 7 Eleven they are packed in a small plastic tray with a vacuum sealed plastic top, and others are in a green box to easily identity as part of the “Busog Meal” branding.

The packaging also updates the recently released Chili Con Carne that was originally in a slightly wider black tray making it uniformed to all the budget rice meals they have produced for this year. For a voracious eater during lunch time this is not the rice meals for you since these are for those who like to eat by portions.

Better Served at Home

For the uninitiated to the Adobo dish this is the simplified version that is ‘read-to-cook’ through microwave. You have the option to have the staff heat the food in their microwave, but best advice for those who will take it home it is better served and heated at the confines of your kitchen.

Not all of the 7 Eleven stores have a dine-in area, since the pandemic most of the stores that have space outside has converted them into an alfresco dine-in style as what some of the store used to have space for dine-in inside has taken up space for more of their product as better suggest to bring the food and have it heated at home.

Budget Adobo

The Chicken & Pork Adobo is just right portion over the rice it sits on top. Since this is a budget rice meal don’t expect too much for something really ‘on a budget.’ But it pays benefit for how good and original they have prepared this as a frozen meal that needs to be heated.

All the flavours of what an original adobo has made this quite good, but you may needs an extra rice for its warm sweat tasting goodness. It’s not the most perfect budget adobo out there, but it gives you that ‘homey’ feels what your mum or grandma makes out of her kitchen.

Overall this is quite an affordable take on the Chicken & Pork Adobo that’s right with the cost and its presentation. Though not as the most perfect, but it gives you something to fill up your tummy for those who have no time to prepare for lunch.

  • Food Quality: 4 out of 5
  • Affordability: B
  • Overall: Another great budget meal in the form of Chicken & Pork Adobo.
