Legazpi Sunday Market | Celebrating 21 Years!

The Legazpi Sunday Market is one of the two weekend markets serving the Makati CBD suburbs. The other is the Salcedo Saturday Market, organized by a different group founded a year earlier, in 2004.

The Legaspi Sunday Market, a local event, has faced many challenges over the years.

Originally located at the old Legaspi Car Park, where the modern elevated parking lot now stands. It bounced around from the old location to the Legaspi Active Park before finding a permanent location at the Corinthian Car Park.

It’s now one of the best places to find good food and socialize.

It’s been 21 years since they have been consistently catering to the residential side of Legazpi Village, and they’ve been growing ever since. It caters to all, not only to the residents in the surrounding area, but to everyone making the trip and spending their Sunday with the local market.

The interest in trying to go to Legazpi Sunday Market stems from personal health and finding healthier alternatives for good food. I have passed through the Sunday Market going back to the old location. But not regularly until late last year, after coming from a long stay in the province.

But this Sunday I wasn’t aware of the anniversary until I saw the admin booth had set up something different and was set to organize a local bingo game and other interesting activities to celebrate the occasion. My usual go-to vendor is The Good Choices, catering vegan dishes that I frequently visit.

It’s great seeing people engaged in participating and supporting the local vendors who have been part of the Legazpi Sunday Market culture. I wasn’t early like the last time due to personal commitments, but I managed to make it to the local vendor I support before she packed up her gear and went home.

This was a quick trip to the Sunday Market after having lunch with a few chats and then snapping some photos of the event before heading off. It was already almost a quarter past 2 PM, but some of the vendors managed to stay and celebrate the anniversary by participating in the event’s bingo game.

Congrats to the organizers and participating vendors on celebrating 21 years of Legaspi Sunday Market, and hoping to see this event continue for the next decades.

The Legaspi Sunday Market is open 7 AM to 2 PM (Local Time), and for more events and other announcements, you can follow them on their social via Facebook and Instagram!
