Hotta Rice | Bangus Steak

“Bangus Steak” is the latest addition to the ever-growing “Hotta Rice” range of affordable Filipino dishes in a small bowl that continues to expand what dishes 7-Eleven can come up with within the price range that the masses can afford at the same time have that savory taste that will keep them coming back for more.

This was launched today across all the 7-Eleven outlets within Metro Manila, and the one nearby store was about to put out the large poster when this last bowl was sold out before even lunchtime happened. Just like most of the “Hotta Rice” branding, it is in a tiny bowl enough for you to have a light lunch that is the product itself.

For the “Hotta Rice” to be aligned first, the product had a new facelift in all the packaging being now uniformed in color matching to identify, which dish you are looking forward to immediately.

Even the older ones are now in the new packaging with the bold name of the dish and on the other side features an image of the said product. There have been new products released since last year along and this Bangus Steak is the latest for this year.

Purple Straightforward

You can immediately see that the new Bangus Steak comes in the same tiny bowl as the rest of the “Hotta Rice” range. But it is identified with the colour purple with the white bold font that you won’t miss the name BANGUS STEAK. Sometimes the dish doesn’t have a plastic container separating the dish.

You can see that the Bangus Steak is separate from the rice in a plastic microwaveable container. Not to spoil the dish and the rice. Other dishes don’t have this and sit on top of the rice. But this one, you can see it even the entire packaging is wrapped in vacuum-sealed plastic.

The Process of Heating

The usual way to prepare and heat the dish is to have the viand separately contained from the rice while you shove it inside the microwave. But for personal option, I’d like the dish buried underneath the rice for it to be fully cooked. Sometimes having cooked them separately and having them taken out from the microwave needs to have them mixed afterwards.

Personally, this idea of having the dish underneath the rice is straightforward just mix them while you slowly consume the meal. But if you are consuming it at 7-Eleven like most people do since their office or want the food heated at the store you may ask to instruct them how you would like the dish cooked underneath the rice.

Overall, the meal is made for light lunch and not intended to be expected as a heavy meal, hence, the cost of the food is not as expensive as the other 7-Eleven meals that they have to offer. Is it good? It depends on your taste as the viand looks to be improved and not enough to consume the rice with it.

It is a budgeted quick meal product and you will get the idea why it is not that expensive and for the reason it is made for those who are on the go and have little time to have a savory meal.

  • Food Quality: 4 out of 5
  • Affordability: B
  • Overall: Needs more Bangus Steak to match with the rice.
