New Hatchin Makati | Uma Delica

“Uma Delica” is the name and a range of Japanese dishes by New Hatchin Grocer, which has three branches in Metro Manila with its first store in Makati City, Pasay, and Quezon City. If you attend the local Food Expos you’ll likely see them set up a booth and promote most of the Japanese products that are not available in other stores.

But what makes New Hatchin stand out is its “Uma Delica” Japanese cuisine from its traditional sushi to the more popular rice meals that’s been sold out if you are not early what’s available. Despite the rising cost in the post-pandemic era they still have some of the affordable meals if you are up in the morning to be there to get first dibs.

Recently, price bumps made it challenging to get the rice bowls and other things they have under the Uma Delica range of Japanese dishes. The best day to see a wide variety of products is during Saturday morning. Gone are the days of the “Secret Weekend Lunchtime Menu" as they are serving Takoyaki and Yakisoba even on a regular day by request as the staff prepares them.

They also have other dishes that they offer on their menu on tops of the window glass where the neon sign of “Uma Delica” can be seen. But if you have patience it takes time for the staff to prepare them as fresh as possible. The things that most people buy are the rice bowls and other Japanese dishes.

You can see one the shelves are stocked in the images, but if you are not early on a regular day chances are they are all gone before noontime. Some last longer ending up in a chiller nearby while the rest are as limited as you can see them all on the shelves. Again, the best day to be at the grocery store is Saturday morning.

The following day, Sunday is also the time everything is sold out. The churchgoers nearby would be heading to this grocery after mass and of course that would be the end of it if you are not early to take home some of the best meals money can buy.

Besides the Uma Delica line of Japanese Cuisine they offer it is also a grocery and you get an idea or two about preparing your food that they also have. But at the end of the day, you just want a meal that deserves your attention.

Their rice bowls are extremely popular despite the recent price bump. They are still being adored by most who can afford some of them. But Saturday is as always the best time to find those affordable meals and it is also therapeutic to see other Japanese products while you browse over their shelves while you head out to checkout.
