Busog Meal | Mac n' Chiz

Defining comfort food is a challenging inquisition. There have been many out there that are affordable and at the same time, you get to see the quality. There are competitors too that want to get in the action for some it is all about how it is served and makes the consumer feel comfortable when they are having that particular meal.

7-Eleven has mastered the craft of bringing “comfort food” to social classes and tries its best to be the one to deliver an all-original meal or snack for those who just want something to munch their way in between their studies or at work as they burn the midnight oil to make it through the day or most of the times at night where it is at.

The “Busog Meal” line of affordable food from 7-Eleven is not always the most popular meals that they offer as not all are of good quality, but you get to understand their reason for making the budget affordable at the same time have a product recall to their consumers to come back for more.

They have a very small line-up of Pasta on their plate, and they need to expand their horizon to capture this market as competitor Lawson is up there offering their take on everything that is Pasta-related that is affordable to the point that it is the only thing that drives them to be relevant with that kind of line-up.

Comparing Containers

7-Eleven has introduced a new product with Mac n’ Chiz and it is the most affordable pasta they have next to Lasagna. They have their spaghetti too, but it is always sold out. The local 7-Eleven in the nearby area doesn’t get much stock on the ones that other related stores have and, surprisingly, this one is the most crowded in terms of geographical location near an office building.

The comparison here is the same priced pasta between 7-Eleven and Lawson as you can see how the black microwaveable tub is straightforward and flat, while the one from 7-Eleven has contours that make you think the portions are different at the same time this product is trying to fit the budget that was given to them.

Not Enough Cheese

“Mac n’ Chiz” is a popular comfort food and to see it lacking only strips of cheese seems like they are quite stingy of this to make it this product’s name. It should be overflowing with cheese and from the looks of it, this is a very not-so-good product in terms of portions compared to its competitor Lawson.

It is obvious the tub that it is using is trying to make it look like it has the right portions when the curves underneath show how they are cost-saving on the quantity of the product including the quality of how it lacked cheese on top to be called “Mac n’ Chiz” that should have more.

Overall, it is self-explanatory how the product is trying to fit into the budget when both quality and quantity are lacking in this product. But regardless of that people would still buy it as it is not stocked all the time due to trying to keep the budget low and trying to be as affordable as possible.

For the lack of trying, it is still being bought by most people surprisingly despite the lack of what makes a “Mac n’ Chiz” a popular comfort food for most people who just want to have a light dinner. It is also a missed opportunity for 7-Eleven to capitalize on competing with Lawson for all the Pasta they have, which they are sorely beaten on both fronts with price and portions.

  • Food Quality: 3 out of 5
  • Affordability: B+
  • Overall: Sketchy container shows how they are stingy on both quality and quantity.
