Fiesta Dabaw | Native Comfort Food

You call it “Fast Food” because it is literally and figuratively quick with no dramas. Dining at a local Food Hall inside a Shopping Mall can be crowded, but it all depends on how it is managed properly while you take chances when you order your food as the servers give it to you as efficiently as possible when you get it in real-time.

Fiesta Dabaw is a local and original “Native Restaurant” capturing the masses with its take on local food found in Davao and the rest of the Mindanao region that is affordable as well as keeping the essence of what it is meant by having “Fast Food,” which is surely not like the American way of how you get your food with that style.

It is common to have this experience inside a Food Court or Food Hall, where everything is there as you see different vendors and free sitting tables. It is, of course, a first-come first-serve basis to be there and to find the seats reserved to avoid not having a place to sit and have your delicious lunch.

Filipinos like to eat out and most who work at nearby offices find having lunch more convenient than bringing home-cooked meals to work. It also makes sense to have the best meal at one of the popular local cuisines rather than having the usual American fast food style that rarely connects with people.

It is also practical to have lunch at a mall that provides a variety of vendors that expand your taste buds and your chance at having different types of foods every single day just like Fiesta Dabaw is offering.

  • Long Lines, but Quick
  • Order while You Pay
  • Home Away from Home

Long Lines, but Efficient

The type of order in a Food Court is different from having it inside a Jollibee or McDonald’s restaurant as you see the food already and just point it to the staff what you want and when you want it. Sometimes, they heat the food but most of the time it is just there ready for you to choose it.

In the world where things are now online, there is nothing like having it at the same place and seeing it being served to you efficiently without the need to wait or call your number. It is also impressive to see it served quickly when you almost reached the checkout and it is the best thing the locals have here.

Order While You Pay

The set-up is like in the assembly line, where you get your tray and start pointing at the food on display and there the server will get a bowl or plate and give you the viand or rice to load up your tray before reaching the end of the checkout for you to pay what you have ordered.

It was at the right time when nobody was there yet and lunchtime had not reached its peak hours. There are so many choices at Fiesta Dabaw as the owner is also from Bagganga in Davao Oriental and you get an idea that the food being served is as native as you get it that is quality Filipino food.

Home Away from Home

Most of the food served at Fiesta Dabaw is comfort food and you get the feel of how good their dishes are. Unfortunately, not being able to capture images of the food being served had no time as the window to order was quick and too efficient to even document the experience.

But having Bicol Express, Lumpiang Ubod, and two cups of rice was a heavy meal already. Not to mention the ever-popular “Fruit Salad” that was not in the photo was included as something very Filipino when it comes to desserts and it complements the meal to a fault.

Overall, service is good and the staff is helpful as they are very attentive to the customer’s request when they point out the dish that they wanted. There is no wasted time as they serve the food and listen to all the chatter. They are well-staffed and not one was distracted and just being efficient as one of the popular places to eat.

Unfortunately, Fiesta Dabaw doesn’t have a branch in Metro Manila, but they have all three locations within downtown Davao City, which are all located in three shopping centers that are accessible for the locals to get around and have the taste of a true Davaeno experience with Fiesta Dabaw.

  • Branch: Gaisano Mall of Davao, 4th Floor Food Court Area in Gaisano Mall of Davao, J.P. Laurel Avenue, Bajada Davao City 8000
  • Customer Service: B+
  • Food Quality: 8.5/10
  • Overall: Quick ordering while you line up and immediate assistance, Well Done.
